I Hate This!

I hate it when people start threads showing us this because everyone says the same thing, its been posted at least 15 times already and every time people say "oh I hate this" and then it gets closed.

You know...I remotely remember some folks who use to proclaim keeping their bettas happy in 1/2 gallon bowls....this one just happens to be 0.792 gallons (3 liters it says it holds). 4 liters = 1.056 gallon, so there isn't "that" much difference there. So basically it's as close to a 1 gallon tank as you are gonna get without going over.

While some of you might think this crule and/or barbaric .. the fact is, as long as it's kept clean and the temp is maintained..it's really not "all" that bad.

Would I buy one? No

Would I reccomend someone buying one? No

Would I condem someone for having bought one and keeping their fish in it (under the right conditions)? No

We all know many people prefer bettas be kept in 1+ gallon tanks....but my god, we're talking about .308 of a gallon here (4 cups)...come on.

Personally, I think people need to quit trying to find things to gripe about and point fingers at. These type threads are getting old, really fast. I get bored too, but.... *wanders off*

I know what you mean. We went a long while without having many of these complaint threads and now it seems like they're all over the place...

Whoever came up with this idea should be put in a 1mx1m box and see how he likes it.

....did ya READ SRC's previous post?

3L = .793 g

minimum recommended tank size for a betta = 1 g

suppose that the minimum recommended housing for a person is 1000 sq ft

that's about a 9.5mx9.5m box

.793 x 1000 sq ft = 793 sq ft :)o fancy that)

that's about an 8.5mx8.5m box

i think you'd live.

PS: i will continue to mock with math people that insist on using boxes, dog crates and 1 room apartments to describe how terrible tiny tanks are for bettas. most of these comparisons are biased and are non-descriptive of why bettas need larger tanks. you also sound like a dolt if you start using these comparisons immediately following an analysis of actual gallonage ratios.

Actually I thought the idea was kind of cute. I just wouldn't want to change it every day or so. If a friend wanted to give me a gift on Valantine's Day with a wonderful pretty boy in it, I would be delighted. Would I keep him in that vase? Probably not. So shoot me with an Remington in old Santa Fe.

I didn't mean to be judging, just that what one considers worthy of illegality, another doesn't. I don't even remember why we outlawed pet ferrets.

dont worry.. i was kidding.. in fact my point was illustrating the same as you have just stated. "what one considers worthy of illegality, another doesn't." couldnt agree more!!!!!!

I always thought ferrets were smelly little things that bit you and didnt let go anyhow.. !.. (im kidding again timmy.. now dont you start)

Squid

DON'T START ! What you've just said is all we hear at shows etc.
:nerd:

LOL!

I think it's brilliant that you need a license to keep ferrets! Stops little kids buying them on a whim!

Excellent. Truth be told, I like wildlife protections. I like my wildlife wild when possible.
