It has been so bitter cold out. The room temperature in my fish room is at 62°F. Most of my tanks have adequate heating. But 2 five

gallon tanks with fry are having trouble maintaining their temperature. I have insulated both tanks to take some of the burden off The 50 W heaters.

well they don't look very nice like that... but a practical solution none the less... I have a tendency to go bigger on the heaters, just for that reason, living in Minnesota...

I find my 5 gallon fry/hospital tanks are the trickiest when it comes to heating them. The heaters either cannot keep up in a cold snap or overheat when air temps are normal.

When there's power outage, I able to heat my tanks properly with my generator, But still cant heat the room adequately, so temperature still drops even with space heaters.

I cover the tanks with mylar blankets and it works great.
