oh cool so what color are they when happy light or dark

In my case dark. They are not evely light when feeling bad though. They have lightish patches.

Same here. When I first saw them in the shop, the male was looking really dingy, with these really scummy looking light patches all over him. Now he is usually a handsome black- particularly now, what I can see of him, lurking in his cave, I suspect we're about to become grandparents again

I have a bristlenose and when stressed such as when moving to a new tank it turns very light. So when dark should mean it's happy.
