here is a new pic of my tank with the new lighting. ill try to find a pic with the old lighting so you can see the difference. we had to make our oun lighitg because the one we had was not enough to push the lights we just bought. so this is what we did went to home depo and bought a balister that would push 4-40w lights
then got home hooked up the power cords. then put it in the hood we already had. then we taped the ends and painted the inside of the hood with crome paint. put in the bulbs and :hyper: wow we have light. we have two marine glow and two power glow the bulbs alone was $160.00, the balister system and paint, and power cords was $64.64. thats alot cheeper than the one the lfs had for $650.00. and ours looks just as good.

Have you brought your fish Oakley shades as well LOL but the tank looks great. I use a small marine glow as a moon light in my 120gal freshwater tropical and I love the colour.

Keep us posted as the coral grows

David :fish:

looks like they are towards 20,000K end of the spectrum. are they halides or tubes. never heared of them before.

looks even better with those on.

they are tubes. 40 wats each four ft long. they are coralife bulbs marine glow and power glow. it is what the lfs recomended for coral. they cost 40.00 a peace.
did i get the wrong kind of lighting?
looks like they are towards 20,000K end of the spectrum
let me know please. i want to do this right.

they will be fine for growing coral, as long as you replace them every 6-8 months etc. you won't be able to keep some of the difficult speciese but if you stick to softies like leathers mushrooms and button polyps etc etc etc, then you shouldn't go far wrong.

Terrific Job, Gina! It looks about one hundred times better! I like the blue 'affect'! Keep up teh great work!!!!!
Ron
P.S. How the puffer doing!!?? (I know, I'm in love with that fish!!! :p )

Wow, looks awesome!! I'm really impressed by the difference. It has gone from a good looking tank to a knock-out!! The change in light color makes it look much more "saltwaterish" to me.. really makes those fish stand out. Great job!!
