I finally got to go pick out a betta! I took the advice of some of y'all, and picked up a 2.5 gallon Mini-Bow, big fella is gonna be spoiled having that sucker all to himself!! Anyways, the store must have recently gotten in another shipment of bettas, because there was probably 60 or so. Of course they were all behind each other and stuff so I spent ages pulling them out to give them once overs. My mom wasn't exactly happy with my speediness, hehe.

Soooo there he was, flaring up at his neighbor, and then turning to me. I coulda sworn I saw that fish wink! He was saying "hey look how much bigger and prettier I am than that guy, don't you wanna talk me home? huh huh?" And well.... yes I did, I'm a sucker for macho guys. He's quite the man, gorgeous red fins with blue streaks, and a dark red and turquoise body.

He's still currently in his pee-cup , but I'll be moving him into his bachelor pad as soon as my water gets room temp. He can't wait! And neither can I, I want to see how he reacts having so much space! I'll let you all know the outcome.

...And a name, you ask? Well.. as tomorrow is "Talk Like a Pirate Day" (it is I'm not kiddin), I'll have an official naming, but I can give you all a sneak peak I suppose. He is to be dubbed "Captain Jack Sparrow". Ah yes my friends, if you haven't seen "Pirates of the Carribean"... it was a lovely movie and this fish fits his name. He's quite the capt, but seems to have a good sense of humor and maybe even a bit of a ditsy side. I can't wait to get to know him better!

I couldnt agree more!!! 2 months ago I had none and no intentions of getting one. I rescued one then another then another and so on. I have even bought a breeding pair of crowntails. Will this madness ever stop? I hope not.

Just so you know....they're addictive. You won't be able to stop with just one. I literally had to talk to myself the other day in Petsmart to keep from buying another one...they just got a whole new batch in, some with some amazing color combinations I hadn't seen before and I wanted to take them all home. So I stood there and talked myself out of it.....for now.
