So I was in Walmart buying a small hospital tank when I went up to the store's tank and found a Syndontis Catdfish amongst the chilids getting eaten to death. I decided to save him. I would rather have him die without being eaten to death. However, I would love it if he survived.

What I am asking here is if I can put a fish into a tank that is newly established in an emergency situation, because I was buying the hospital tank at walmart. So obviously I can't give parameters.

Honestly, it doesn't look too hot in the bag....

EDIT:
Can a mod or someone move this to the Catfish section as this isn't an emergency anymore.

he'll probably suffer from a mix of things including what happened at walmart...... he wont survive for long, im guessing. but good luck with your fish, and i hope that he recovers

I'll keep you posted.
I'm putting him in the tank.
I also have put Melafix and Start Right.

I wish the little kitty fish a "Get well soon.", Synodontis look very cute. Maybe call him/her Lucky if he survives.

Good Idea. I'll post a pic of him/her tomorrow once he has gotten used to his tank. He was turning white and was showing all sort of things that occur because of stress.
My roommate has already decided Speckles, (lol) but if he does make it then he shall be Lucky Speckles. :D

Just make sure you keep on top of the ammonia levels since it is a new set up. Do you have a filter for your hospital tank? If so you could seed it with media from your established tank. Ensure you take out the carbon part of your filter if it has one, the carbon would remove the meds otherwise.

Good luck, I hope s/he pulls through!

No, it doesn't have a filter. I knew that if I needed the tank that I would have to remove the carbon, so I didnt get any. I also got a small tank so that I wouldn't have to add a whole bunch of medication per dose. It rather has a bottom filtration set up.

He is still alive. So cute and has so much personality. I think he is really grateful for being taken out of the tank at Walmart.
My roommate and I found a happy medium and named him Leckles. :D I'm uploading pictures now. Is there anything that I am forgetting to do/dont know to do?
Like I said, I didn't really plan to get him.

Is he lively? I can't wait to see him. Nice name.

Love that name, lol! It sounds to me that you are having things well under control, it shows as he is already improving! Good job!!! :good:

I know in the pictures he looks rather unlively, but he usually swims all over the tank he is in.

Aww! Those big puppy eyes! He is adorable! Looks quite good (except for that pink spot on top), I think he has high chances of full recovery.
