Yep, me again. I can't get a break.
I bought 2 platys Wednesday for my 20 gallon ( was going to get 2 female guppies, decided against it due to fighting problems I was having) and I was stupid and didn't quarantine them, so I take full responsibility for this. Today, I saw one of them sitting at the bottom of the tank, then saw these small specs on its tail. The other one had it as well, so I immediately removed them from the tank, not knowing what else to do. I got my old 10 gallon, filled it up 80% of the way, put the old heater on to get around 85, added the filter (and space for it to break the surface) and put in some aquarium salt. However, everywhere I've read says I should treat my actual tank too since the ich is now in there. I would like to use the heat and salt method since I'm not a fan of putting even more chemicals in the water, and I really don't want to go back to the pet store AGAIN. I've been about 5 times in not even a week so I'm a bit tired.
Here's my problem and why I separated the 2 platys. I have 4 cory catfish which I read don't do good with salt... And a bigger problem is I can't raise the heater I have because it's one that doesn't allow me to change the settings. It has no switch or buttons to adjust temperatures but it gets between 78-84. Right now it's 82. So I really don't know what to do and how to treat this. If chemicals are a must, I guess I'll have to resort to that but... I'd really prefer not to. Will temps of 82 be high enough to kill the ones in the main tank, and will temps of about 85-86 and salt treatment cure my 2 infected platys? I'm just having a hard time understanding this all and what the best  thing to do for them would be.

Also, none of the other fish are exhibiting signs of ich. They are all eating and acting normal and have no specs, it's just these 2 new ones.Water parameters are good; 0ppm ammonia, 0 ppm nitrite, 5-10ppm nitratte.
Really sorry for spamming again, I've just been having the worst luck after switched to this new 20 gallon so it's always one thing after another.

Anytime I've had ich I've turned up the heat to about 82 added some extra salt and done daily water changes. I've lost some fish but saved a lot I think. I don't like the idea of adding rid ich or any other chemicals. Plus I have a happy population of snails that I would not want to kill.

I read numerous articles on ich but my main concern is using salt with the corys. I'm thinking of removing them and the snail and switching them out with where the platys are and keep them in there in just regular water, and then treating the other tank with salt and heat, but I don't know...

I was going to use the heat and salt method but I just don't want to risk it with my corys. Can anyone here tell me if they've ever used Kordon Rid Ich ( http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11066251&f=PAD%2FpsNotAvailInUS%2FNo ) ? I've read many positive things on this product and that it won't harm my fish/plants but I'm worried even this will be harmful to my corys and to the non-ich fish. Do you use these products only if the majority of the tank has ich or even if there's just ich present in general? I want to pick this up tomorrow so I can move the 2 platys back in the big tank and begin treating my main tank but I'm debating if my corys will make it or not... and I don't think removing them and then treating the tank would be a good idea because for all I know, they could have ich too. Any ideas?

I've just been through a terrible long bout with ich myself with my platies. Normally when my fish get ich I use Interpet Anti Whitespot and it works easily (when I say fish I don't mean the same ones over and over just when it has happened in the past in one of my tanks).

I would suggest getting another adjustable heater if you can, I do believe that was one of that factors that finally helped my ich come to an end. My fish did get unhappy with the higher salt content so I ended up changing the water to rid the salt and returning to meds... it seemed the meds and heat is what finally worked for us.

well I wanted to bump the temperature up but that would affect my corys too since they prefer temps of 78 or so. it's at 82 and can't be adjusted so even that's cutting it close for them. I kept the platys in the qt for a few hours and that salt got rid of all the parasites showing on their tail, so as of now none of them have it. I'll hopefully treat the tank before any parasites hatch and bother my fish, but the heat and salt made them fall off! Maybe I caught it early so hopefully I'll have.no deaths.

Okay I started medicating 2 nights ago and this morning, i noticed some of the fish seem to be improving while my 2 other platys seem to have worsened/stayed the same. They tend to sit on the bottom at night and in the morning to "sleep" but today they seemed more lethargic..
I'm doing half doses and keeping temps at 82, but I'm really stressing with a few fish. Should i add a 2nd heater and increase temps even though I have 4 corys? And should I start full dosing? I'm keeping their water as clean as possible with 20% water changes and vacuuming the gravel, but I fear they'll get worse. Any advice, or should i just continue with 82 degrees and half doses?

Oh and will it be a good idea to maybe catch and put some of the worse infected fish into a small container of water w/ aqua salt for a few mins? I can't do the whole tank so I'd have to net them out which might cause unneeded stress, but I'm just trying to do anything to comfort them :(

I have a ten gallon tank that i have set up just for my two black mollies that are pregnant and one of the mollies is due to drop any day now and i just noticed that she has ICH.  I'm concerned about her unborn fry and her stress level. I immediately changed the filter out and took all the decor out and attempted to vacuum the gravel but considering i have almost 3 week old fry swimming all over the bottom of the tank it's hard to do so. I added some ICH medicine and added some Melafix cause i know it can aid in stress level and help with illnesses. the water level of the tank had gone down some due to evaporation and so i took out about 20% water and then added that and another 20% and made sure that i added dechlor to the water i put in the tank. Does anyone know if ICH can pass from mother to fry in this case. Is there anything else i can do. I plan to add some salt to tank as soon as i get the salt back from my bf who needed some.
