Works every time if you can count...

You do it then, funnily enough my real calculator gets -81 and so does my head but windows wants -41 as an answer.

The number guessing doesn't work unless you specify the range which we can use which chris has pointed out.

Actually you're wrong, and must be using your calculator wrong.

-40 x 2 = -80
Add 78 = -2
Half = -1
-1(-)-40 = 39 (Minus Take-away a minus is a plus).

no, -1-40 is -41 it's only when multiplying and dividing that it - + - = -
