The problem is you aren't specifying the range or anything. If someone starts with a minus figure they may not get the correct result,
obviously the act of halving removes the effect of one number, removing your original number completely removes it from the equation. So it SHOULD work regardless, but how many decimal places are allowed before it stops being accurate?

You do it then, funnily enough my real calculator gets -81 and so does my head but windows wants -41 as an answer.

The number guessing doesn't work unless you specify the range which we can use which chris has pointed out.
