I Admit It I Have Mts

Wow 20 tanks.. I couldn't even imagine. I hope you had a really big house so you could spread them all around :) That'd be neat. A fish tank in every room :D

I have my 20 gallon in the kitchen.. it's nice to have something to watch while doing dishes, heh.
nope only one was in the house, the rest were in the shed!!

Wow what a great response and so many tanks. My dad thinks I am nuts as with 4 tanks in the living room there is not much room for anything else.

Someone asked earlier what sort of cichlids I wanted. To be honest I don't know anything about them just that they look fantastic in my lfs and when I move I am having a room just for fish (don't tell anyone though cos they don't know yet). I can then have more tanks and one will be a cichlid tank. The estate agent might think I am weird though ' yes I would like a 5 bedroom house, 1 for me, 3 for the kids and 1 for the fish'

It is great how we all talk ourselves into these new tanks. ' I need a fry tank, hospital tank, more room' We are all in denial - we just need more fish.

Great thread! Well, let's see. I believe I came here last June because my Hubby wanted a tank for Fathers Day. We got him a 10g. Then (because we hadn't researched it yet) some of the lovely folks on here informed me that the Bala & Iridescent Shark needed a bigger tank. So, we kept upgrading with the intentions of getting rid of the smaller tanks as we went. :/ Um, yeah, didn't happen. We now have a 55g, a 30g XH, a 29g and 4 10g (although only 1 of those has fish). Oh and our Daughter who will be 5 next month is totally into fish too! We are getting ready to put a tank into her room. Just a 10g. She actually helps with water changes and tank cleanings! Is too cool. :good: Our 3 main tanks are in our living room. It's kinda interesting seeing peoples faces. LOL We only have a 2 bedroom home that's only 620 square feet.

I got a tank for sale and all my african cichlids equipment i need to shift in the summer and you are near to me in hampshire. Where abouts are you moving to?

yep mts strikes when you least expect it!

I started off with a 1foot then got a 4foot then a 61/1 foot them a 2ft then a 3 1/2 foot!got 5 tanks planning number 6! :fun:

Heh I like this thread.. when my family comes over and calls me crazy for having so many fishes I can show them this and be like "See! You're the crazy ones for NOT having fishes!"

 You lot are only in the early stages of MTS, its not full blown until you are into double figures and have tanks big enough for the family to bath in.

We started off with my fiances little 10g, moved onto a 30g, then got a 80g to go with it and now have

1x 200g
1x180g
1x150g
1x80g
1x65g
2x55g
4x30g
4x20g

plus a 420g on the way and a 230 sqaure foot workshop being converted into a fishhouse which will contain a tank of over 500 gallons and a 3000 gallon + tropical pond.

tropical pond! that sounds cool as 8) want one!

It all started 16 years ago when we lived in Kent.
My hubby was given a 10 gal with one deformed fish in. The tank was so dirty you couldn't see the fish. Took it home cleaned it up. Two month later we got a bigger tank. Than we had to move to London in with the in laws they where not happy about the tanks at all. A friend introduced us to cichlids and we build our own 100 gal tank. ( in laws not happy).
Seven years ago we moved to Leicester and had to get rid of the fish as the living room of our new house wasn't big enough. Two years ago we build an extension at the front & back of the house. We set up the 100 gal in the living room with Malawis again. Then I was told that our offices in Oxford where getting rid of there fish tanks and we could have them for free if we pick them up. That's how I got my 4 ft Jewel Tank and started keeping brackish. My third tank I bought because I got myself a Malawi Crab and soon realized that he will go for the fish. So one Crab in a 20 gal tank. And somehow I got a 20 gal tanganyken tank and of course a small fry tank. Soon I will be changing my 4 ft brackish to a 5x2x2. What will happen to the empty 4ft ????????

I started w/a 10gal around 10years ago. Knew nothing about fish, just threw some in and watched them die. Got rid of the 10gal 5 years ago, and got a 29gal bowfront, still didn't know anything about fish, just threw some in and watched them die (see a pattern?). A year ago, decided to get cichlids, wanted them to live longer and a few weeks, so started research. Found this forum 8 months ago, now have a Yellow Lab species tank in the 29gal. 3 months ago I was wandering in Petsmart, always felt bad about the bettas in little cups, saw a spunky one swimming like mad in his cup, got him and a 5gal, then decided I wanted more cichlids, so now I have a 75gal cycling. So I currently have: 1 5gal, 1 29gal, 1 75gal, and seriously thinking about getting several 10gal, splitting them, and getting more bettas.
