Resurrecting the Passion of Fishkeeping
Well, in Rhode Island we were hit Sunday AM. The rain was no problem and was infact very little accumulation - - but in land we had massive winds.
I have been with out power for 48 hours now and there has been an advisory put on our water - -we are instructed to boil it first. Kind of hard to do when you have an electric stove and no electricity!
On Saturday, every tank got a huge water change, minimal 75% - - My african clawed frogs are dealing well, but my goldfish are not.
My old land lords let us set up one 10 gallon at their place (they have electricity, lucky!) - this was as an emergency measure for the goldfish as one is unable to right itself and keeps going on its side.
Has been in the "emergency" tank for about 18 hours now, is not worse but not much better either.
Poor little love - this has been one tough goldfish! Rescued from a coworker who had it in a little bowl (as in the kind of gimmick bowl they try and push for bettas!) who got bored with it and was going to flush it, then rescued from cats after it somehow escaped during a water change, and now this.
His name is No'Mo'Hawk. (When he was little, he had a black mohawk running from the top of his face and down his fin. As he got older, it faded and now he has no more mohawk - hence his name. )
Our other goldfish, Wizard has truly surprised me. She seems fine, and has been staying beside No'Mo'Hawk since we moved them over - - she almost seems to be trying to balance him.
In the container on the way from the house with no electricity to the emergency set up -
