I live in Louisiana and we are expecting another winter storm tomorrow and it is supposed to bring more freezing rain that we didn't get yesterday. We were lucky and just got a lot of sleet and some snow mixed in, so we didn't lose power. We have a generator ready to go, but if it's raining or freezing rain when the power goes out, prob won't be able to go out and start up the generator until it stops, which is supposed to be Thursday morning. How can I keep my tank warm until we can start using the generator? Can't go anywhere to get any other supplies of needed because the roads are all frozen over. Thanks in advance for helping.

One thing I did was wrap the aquarium in thick bath towels. That'll hold the temp for a while.
Another thing I did is just babysit the tank. If you still have hot water from your tap you can put in just a little bit to stabilize the temp. I tried not let it vary by more than a couple degrees. I used a reliable digital thermometer to measure the temp.

If the power goes out, my basement will flood thus no hot water.

I would use the gas stove to heat up water in a large pot, set the pot near my tank. I have a tiny pump with a long hose attached, recirculation aquarium water thru the hot water.

Of course, put blankets over the tanks.

Tape polystyrene foam sheets on the back and sides of the tank.

have a coverglass on the tank.
