Just wondering how soon after adding my new fish should I retest the water and do a water change?? Do i let them be undisturbed and let them settle for a bit or the next morning?? I'm sure this is a very noobie question but I have no idea

Thanks in advance :)

I would say the next day or two. If you get amnonia you do a water change and/or add ammonia reducing products.

awesome thanks for the responses guys much appreciated

It sounds like you are doing a fish-in cycle. If you are, then I would test every 12 hours and do as many and as large water changes as needed to keep ammonia as close to 0 ppm as possible and never let it reach 0.25 ppm.

Have a read through the link in my sig... ;)

And welcome to the forum! :hi:

We have 3 fish tanks which are a 36 bowfront a 20 high and a 10 gallon tank. And most of the time we test the water 2 to 3 times a week.
