How Often Do You Clean Your Filter?

once each month on the 2 main tanks, bettas gets done once every other month, same with guppy fry tank

I give my sponges a rinse with every weekly water change. Then I replace a sponge once every few months or when I feel that it's getting too dirty.

When I had the internal Jewel filter fitted I would clean it on a weekly basis, but I removed that and now have two large external filters, which I must say only get serviced about once every 12 months.

I have cleaned my 2 externals once in 2 years....don't see the point unless they get clogged up.
