Well, I'm an angelfish breeder and use to be a discus breeder. Keeping discus isn't hard as long as you keep up with the water changes and varied diet. But I would suggest that you start with Angelfish before moving on to Discus. Angelfish will be much more tolerent of the water conditions that Discus. I have 2 tanks of Discus and must do water changes at least every other day or they just don't act right. Where as Angelfish I can miss the weekly water change on my young breeders and they are just fine.
