How Much Did Ur Tank Cost U?

The most i have spent on a tank is £900 for the 5 foot Rena which is my front room display tank. The rest of my tanks are mainly plain all glass tanks on very basic DIY racks and most dont even have lighting, i supose i have probably spent somewhere in the region of £2500 on my fishroom and am spending another £3000 setting up my new fish house this summer.

brand new 15 gallon over head filter, heater, sand, 6 plants, bogwood, light and 11 fish

£150

A lot of people have gotten free or very cheap tanks :hyper: .
That's not fair! On the rare occasion I have the chance of acquiring a free/cheap tank, my parent stop me :shout: :rolleyes: .

Juwel Trigon 190 and stand (second hand off ebay): £175
Fluval 305 (new off the web): £55
Play sand: £4
Plants (tropica): ~ £40
Upgraded lighting: £25
Plant substrate: ~£10
Bog wood: £35
Fertiliser: £10

So about £350/$720 excluding the fish, odd bits and bobs and everything that I had lying around or was from my old tank.
Considering that's pretty much the same price as a games console, I think it's money very well spent :D.

Hmm really didnt want to work out the costs of my tanks :) The nano reef so far has come in just under £300 but that includes a whole load of basic marine stuff that i will end up using on the big reef tank I'm planning.

my planted tank (rough cost):
Tank=£120
Lights=£210
Substrate=£140
CO2 (reg, soloniod, etc)=£150
Filter=£130
Plants=£50
Fish/shrimp=£60
Ferts (6 months supply) = £90
CO2 (6 months supply) = £80
Misc stuff (drop checker, tweezers, 4dkh solution, filter wool, etc) = £150

Total = £1180

Damn, I knew there was a good reason not to add it all up.... :) Next time though I'm pretty sure I could do the same thing for half the price.

i resued my 20gal from my brothers peraunah he had, same with filter, gravel. i only had to get heater toys and of course fish.. so about $100 :)

55 gallon tank- $55 ($1 per gallon sale)
Heater- $30
Penguin 350- $60
Penguin 200- $30
48" Light- $60
DIY Glass Cover- $15

Things might be cheaper in the US, but the fish market is not as good as it is the UK. at least not in orange county. it's hard to find good quality fish stores.
