Do you feed your Bettas once or twice a day and what food do you feed them?

I feed him once a day with home cultivated mosquito larvae and bloodworm. Every week or two, I'll fast him for a day and give him peas, provided he hasn't already stolen the veggies from the otos

*When I did keep Betta splendens*, I fed them one or twice per day, depending on the tank, with at least one day per week without food. I fed a variety of prepared foods, frozen foods and peas.

i feed mine twice daily. 4 pellets in the morning and flakes at night. and a couple times a week he gets bloodworms. :)

I feed once...sometimes I will skip a day. I feed mine bloodworms and brine shrimp and throw in an algae tab for my snails.

I feed my bettas every other day, Nutrafin Betta Max....occasional bloodworms as a snack. I also feed a pea once a week as my little guy gets constapated and floats.....looks like an apple floating at the top of the water. He is currently on his second day of fasting. on friday he will get a pea.

tbh+ to be honest
and i agree, that is too much food...once a day 6/7 days a week.bloodworms shoulld replace one or two meals a week not be as well as

ok good to know., so how would u suggest i feed him? im still pretty new at this. i have pellets, flakes and bloodworms how should i spread it as far as his meals daily

any newly acquired or small(young) bettas are fed twice a day using flake as staple (i have my own reservations about pellets) with bloodworm a few times a week (when they are growing or if ive just gotten them...to "fatten them up" so to speak)...
adult bettas are fed once a day/every other day with flake, bloodworms once or twice a week with peas thrown in for good measure, especially if they seem fat/bloated. Occasionally they will get some frozen daphnia just to mix things up a bit.
waterchanges once or twice a week as schedule dictates.
cheers

He was givin to my daughter as a birthday gift so how do I tell if he's young or adult? And thanks for the advice. What kind of peas the frozen ones we eat? Lol like I said I'm still new to this so all the advice is awesome

could you post a pic? Generally the chain pet stores sell them when they are nearly full grown, but not always. If the fish is (not including the tail)1.5-2 inches hes likely nearly full grown if not full grown already. Sometimes you see little wee ones in the mix (smaller by comparison to the rest of the fish in the store-those are still growing (sorry for the poor description lol). The best train of thought with betas is it is better to under feed at first than overfeed becasue they are prone to eating until they look like theyve swallowed a marble and that can cause health issues like swimbladder disorders and constipation (which can kill them in some cases). Id say a small pinch of flake or 2 pellets a day/every other day would be fine with occasional treats. If feeding freezedried food best to soak it in some tankwater first til it is soft before feeding it to the fish. This also lessens the chance of constipation/swimbladder issues down the line.
hope that is helpful
cheers

you can do the frozen ones though fresh is best. If frozen thaw thoroughly and I also remove the outer shell of the peas so he just gets pea guts. I've had some bettas that won't eat the peas at all though.

They are good for their digestive system.
