How Many People Are "overstocked"?

I had it the other way round. Aq Advisor said I'd be fine (ish) but people here said I'd be overstocked.

I can't remember exactly now coz I've changed my mind about stocking that many times. I think it was with the addition of another platy and 6 neons though. It was deffo the neons that were the prob.

Goat..... you made one fatal flaw in mentioning something there. It may well be the fact that you mentioned that you have set the tank up and it is certainly one of the issues. However the main issue is ..... no pics!!!

I shall have to do them tomorrow, as the 5x2x2 depends on natural (sun?)light ;)

But I warn you now, it is no picturesque view, even the cabinet is the wrong way around (cupboards facing the garage wall). The filter and pipes are in front of the tank and as I said, no gravel/sand added, as we are looking at a new ground floor flat tomorrow and so could move in a month (so sand would be another 50kg hassle to remove before moving the tank).

i wouldnt trust aqua advisor at all. according to it my 6 discus only need 11% waterchange weekly!!!

Lol don't worry I listened to people here more. That's why I never got my Neons :)

it says i'm 114% stocked...and all my corys are too aggressive to co-exist with each other...

Well one of my tanks is overstocked and I know it without using the site; but no problems :).

I have 3 other tanks; one the site will say it's over stocked due to the use of a small filter; however the tank isn't full of water - it houses newts; it is understocked though.

The site did tell me that my 5 gallon betta tank with one betta was overstocked!

I've just tried it. Typed in my tank type and no filter (as it wasn't on the list).

I can get 13 female bettas in my unfiltered tank and I'm still understocked....errr I think not!

Yeah they look really aggressive!
 They're so darn vicious  :hey: :p

 hahaha eeeeeeeeeevil cories! eeeeeeeeeeevil :hey: :shifty:

Well I'm going to be complete different from everyone else who's replied so far as my tank is currently very understocked with a grand total of 2 small lace gouramis, 4 rummy nose tetras and 1 sand loach in a 240L tank! I would get more fish but with an imminent house move there is little point. Once I've moved, and got an external (birthday present methinks! :D ) then I'll be building the stocking level back up. Can't wait to get more rummy noses  my 4 look so lonely, but hubby has put his foot down - no new fish before we move

the idea behind the site is a very good 1 , however the execution was always going to be virtually impossible to get right as there are so many variables to consider when stocking a tank

Here's a few before the camera batteries died, off down there again now...

It claimed that my two Nannacara anomala would eventually out grow their 20gal, eventually reaching sizes of up to (dum dum duhhh) 3 inches...

Quite a useful tool for jotting down stock ideas in those idle moments, and for the less experienced keepers.
