i was just wondering how long it would be until my jewel fry are free swimming?its been three days now, so how long do you think it will be?

well theyre officialy free swimming now

and yes ive fed them BBS, but the parents chew up their food and give it to their fry

what size tank are they in at the moment?

atm they are in a 12 gal until i and the jewel parents feel comfortable that the fry can survive on their own.then ill move the parents back in the 40gal to spawn again and then i will sell most of themto my lfs and keep 2 or 3. then i can get another 25 gal with the money i get from trading in the fry and raise the rest in the 25gal and thenwhen theyre big enough put one in the 40 gal and let 2 spawn(if i get different genders)

you do realize you will be waiting months befor the babys will be big anuff to be sold in that tank you would have been better off leaving them in the 40g

your 40g is masivly over stocked are you planning on getting a larger tank?

nope, i can take them to the lfs whenever i want.

if i put them in the 40 gal theyll get eaten as theyre the size of brine shrimp now

and its good my tank is overstocked,cuts down on aggression and to me overstocking is arule for new comers.

the first timne they spawned was in the 40 gal,with out me knowing.the first sign i got of when they spawned is when i saw my gangof convicts with huge holes in their tales

and i just confirmed with my lfs that i will be able to get another 25 gal anytime i bring the fry in

since i have a part time job there and theyre nice people they said they will take the fry when ever i want them to take it.

gee,people where youlive my have a harsh time trying to sell fry

convict fry are worthless to an lfs, any fool can breed them, but jewel fry are different.
