Hi,

The LFS said that RO water and mixed saltwater have a limited shelf life of a few days. What is the maximum time you can keep the water before putting it into teh tank? And does this differ with salt / RO water?

Also, I'm storing the water in plastic RO containers, and I hear that even though they are food grade, water shouldn't be permantly stored in them as stuff will still leak out.

As always any insights welcome!

Keep the lids on the container and in a dark cupboard and it can last a good few weeks....

Just give a shake before u use it!

Awesome! What if the lid is off and there's a heater and airstone in there? Is this going to go "off" quickly?

It will likely go off more quickly with an air-stone in, as Bacteria, dust and dirt can get it. Once mixed, keep it in a food grade, airtight, container, and it will store until you need it. Longest I've thus far had the same water stored is two months, and it was fine. Unless you are buying many moons in advance, it will not go off if stored correctly :good: As always, trade hype to try get your through the door more often, making you more likely to buy other stuff while there

Thanks very much! I'm literally only keeping it for maybe 3-4 days with airstone and heater in, so I can't see there being any problems. I may just mix it, seal the lid, and then shake it up before use. =)
