I have this jar of spirulina wafers that I bought back in 96'. I havent really used it or opened it in 10 years. I just opened it and it smells like fresh algae wafers. Smells pretty good IMO. haha Anyway, is it still safe to give to my fish? Or should I go buy a new can? I don't wanna throw away unused food, though. Tell me what you guys think. Thanks. :)

none of the tetra food i bought have an expiration date on them, but some brands like hikari do. personally, i wouldn't use food that dates back to '96 .

Unless it has grown mold or fungus it probably won't hurt them, but it has probably lost most of its nutritional value. Throw it in the garden, it will make good fertilizer.

Of course you could feed it to them...
but it'd be like eating cardboard to them.

Actually, you can probably smell the fish food. The fresh fish food actually smells pretty good, like a snack I'd eat.
The older fish foods usually don't give off a smell. Hmmmm... my flakes smell like fruit loops.

I think that I am just wierd but I wont feed my fish food unless it smells good. And most food smells excellent!
