How important is it for oto's to have buddies?

I got one yesturday because it was less than two dollars and cute as heck

I got home and looked it up on planet catfish ooops needs buddies.

How important are the buddies?

whilst not being a "community" species they are gregarious and do like the company of at least a couple buddies.
IMHO it is very important to have buddies for them.

I would have to agree with Wolf. I have four of them and i always usually see 2 or more hanging around near each other.

Thanks. I'll get two more asap. I appearantly lucked out and the one I got is doing great so far. Didn't know to look for a fat belly
