hi i have a natural pond in my garden, ive had the pond in since i was around 2 years old, i am now 17.
My mate had a pond in his garden, about the same size as mine, but his dad decided to take it out.
He asked me if i wanted his filter, i haven't a clue what make the filter is, all i know is that its a sump filter and its silver :p but im not sure if i can install it.
Wouldn't i need an electrician to do this or can it be done by me?

I've installed several different types and some DIY ones. Can you take a picture of find a manufacturers label/name on it anywhere... or was it a DIY filter system? Sumps are generally done with aquariums but I guess they could be used for a pond also. Many people go with a bog instead of a sump for outdoor purposes.

sorry for the late reply, i haven't taken any photo's of it but i forgot to mention that its a cylinder shape.
haven't got any more info, i dont know anything about pond filters :look:

Is it a filter or pump?

From what you'ved said it sounds like a sump pump which are desgiend to shift huge ammounts of water very quickly and thus not skimping on the eleccy they use.

if it is a sump pump, then I'd advise not using it. It will run your electric bill sky high and require a pretty big filter to handy the flow it will chuck out.
