How Do You Pronounce Betta?

yep bay-ta is the second letter in the greek alphabet. That is where the mis-spelling "beta"comes from.

I have always said bay-ta, and so has everyone else I know. I never even knew anyone pronounced it beh-ta.

It is a commen mis-spelling and commen mis-pronounciation.

But its your opinion. Thats why I started the topic to here your opinion :)

yeah sure is. Don't forget to add Siamese Fighting fish. Some people call them "Chinese" fighting fish or "Japanese" fighting fish. it really bugs me. :p

I've always called them bay-ta, never heard any differently.

Even the LFS calls them that, and you know the LFS is never wrong...

Of course they're never wrong. That's why I have 3 goldfish in a 2gal bowl. :hey:

Just kidding, no one get angry.

lol yes 3 goldfish and a pleco is always the best in a 1 gallon bowl. :D

(jk jk)

I almost lost my temper when i herd that >.< It was already a big pleco to :(

i would have to go for beh-ta. maybe it's just you you guys across the ocean, but beh-ta sound right to me...still it doesnt really matter

Danny

Well nobody knows what you're talking about when you say beh-ta and when you say bay-ta it sounds like software that's the beta version and you get geeks making dumb remarks on it too sooo..... :dunno: I've been saying beh-ta due to the software issue.

Here's the second part of the question: Is it correct to say bettas or betta when refering to them in the plural ?
