Lots of people recommend feed frozen peas, especially to plecs and livebearers. But if you put shelled peas in a tank, won't they rapidly disintegrate and amke a mess in the water? Or do the fish eat them all immediately - if so, how many peas should I feed at a time to avoid polluting the tank? Normally feed my fish courgette, potato and cucumber but these are big pieces and leftovers can easily be removed with a net.

You have to de-shell the pea, then crumble it up into small pieces. 1 pea should be ok for 3-4 fish. Then slowly put in each piece. If they dont eat it all, net it out.

:good:

As Aly said just add a tiny bit at a time - crumble it really small - my danios used to snatch them up and get them stuck in their mouth!

I just usually thaw the frozen peas in my hand under water then squish them then drop them in and they get eaten pretty quick especially by my festive cichlids :p

i was going to try peas in my livebearers tank (mollies platies and guppies) as they like their veg. Would jewel and convict cichlids eat peas (or any other veg). My cichlids have never shown any interest before in the courgettes and potato I put in their tank for their plec tankmate
