How do you clean the net of a net breading trap safely for the fish mine is full of algae
I could put it in the washing machine but detergents are lethal to fish

um water and your hands.
Sorry i have never used breeding nets i use 3 foot grow out tanks for my fry

You can soak the whole net in a bleach/water solution for about 30 minutes, then rinse. Then soak the whole net in water with lots of dechlorinator for about 30 minutes also.

Me and my platys thank you they are now 1 month old and 1 cm long they will go to there own tank but last night i had a new birth about 40 of them from 2 moms thats why i asked
thanks

I would not worry about the algae on the breeding net as it can be a good source of food for the fry between feedings. If there is a water flow issue, just give it a rough scrub with your hands or (unused) sponge.

You dont clean it. The algea build up is just what fry want, that mixed with some liquifry and they will love you :)

You should have seen my breeding new when i had the Kribs in it......looked revolting, but the babies were happily muching off the algae :)
