How do you charge shipping costs over a forum like this??

I wouldn’t risk it

Ohhh yaaaaah... That little gem... I forgot 😒

The Postal Service both competes and collaborates with the
private sector. UPS and FedEx pay the Postal Service to deliver
hundreds of millions of their ground packages, and USPS pays
UPS and FedEx for air transportation.

You can label your boxes sent via the USPS as containing live tropical Fish, however, you can not insure the fish.

I have been shipping fish since about 2003. I will send out my last box of the year this week. I will not compete with The Xmas rush and the post Xmas returns. I resume shipping the 3rd week of Jan.

My fish can survive water in the low 90sF and I have an assortment of heat packs I use at this time of year.

When I first began selling and shipping fish it was cheap bristlenose plecos. They cost me money to send out and I finally saw the light and switched to the working with the expensive B&W Plecos.

Reputable sellers, of which I consider myself to be one, guarantee live arrival for their fish. We normally require certain things to trigger the guarantee and usually offer to refund the price of the fish or to end replacements. Shipping is not normally refinded and the buy has to pay the shipping for replacements.

I am a decent shipper and do not normally lose fish. But I hate the work and the risk so I discount pricing for buyers who pick up or whom I am able to meet conveniently. I pay all my hobby costs from selling fish born in my tanks but I am not a business. Breeding fish for profit out of one's home is not so easy.

Sell on aquabid, sell on your own site, join a local fish club and sell some there, go to fish events where they allow room sales and where an auction is usually the finally event at which anybody can buy or sell. You can sell on fish sites like this one, but you can make a lot more contacts on social media and can probably sell on Ebay as well.
