I was just thinking how some of you all members acquire your knowledge.

I know im a hardcover book person, and sometimes the internet.

What about YOU?? :) :p

wow... that was an easy vote... yea that sounds like about where I get mosta my info....

Books for basic inforation as they can be outdated
magazines
forums
and local fishkeepers-Anne

I worked in a pet store years ago. So got basic knowledge from that. But mostly just surfing different sites... and of course, this board.

A lot of my best advice came from my lfs.

It's been established and in the same location for many years and all the employees are experienced fishkeepers. There is little they haven't seen or experienced themselves.

i used to rely on LFS employees but after i got more into fishkeeping and researching stuff in books and online the more i began to not trust the LFS people. There is only one guy i trust at my local Petsmart that I may even start a fish tank building company with.

I ask a question on here then i take the info you guys give me and search the net for second and third opinions then i go to the lfs and ask them. I would like to look in books but as of yet I have not purchased any. Initially i relied entirely on the lfs. BIG mistake.

uncle(owns a fish store and builds tanks, unfortunatly he's on another continent)
books
TFF and various other forums
LFS
myself,
and my fish

Books usually outdated but, I learned my nitrogen cycle through there
Magazines I find that the forum has more reliable information just because it's published doesn't mean it's true, I got a magazine for christmas suggesting a 45 gallon tank for an oscar,
Internet pretty much all my information comes from here but nearly half teh information is wrong or misleading
LFS never don't trust any of them after getting six african cichlids in a ten gallon tank and a load of bs from some kid about bettas
Meetings well I'm involved with a local forum if that counts, and many of those folks are involved weith the aquarium society

Bottom line trust nothing nor nobody always crosscheck and use any source you've got

Most of my new info comes via the internet...directly or indirectly!

I find loads of new ideas and thoughts on here too! Thanks guys! ;)
