I bought a 125g used with 4 fish.

One 12" Black Pacu
One 13" Common pleco
Two 7" unknown fish:

I need the profiles of these two fish. They are a silver color with noticeable scales and have light red fins. Thanks!

depends how far are you moving
Short like tank to tank - Net
Medium 15 min drive_ a jumbo fish back proally have at your LFS
a while away like a plastice storage bin or 2

Thanks for the replies. I am moving the fish about 30min away. I don't even want them though, I'm trying to sell them to a LFS.

Large coolers work well for larger fish.

But coolers are also not very cheap, and once you use it for a fishy poupouses, I high suggest using it for nothing else after words..

Foam coolers are a couple of bucks. I use a large igloo one for transporting bags of fish in cooler weather, it's had just plain fish in it before, no bags. Just hose it out when you're done, they're fish, not toxic waste.

But still, I recall a couple years back a child died because he took a bath in his bath tub. His mother had used the tub as a temperary place for the fish to stay while she moved the tank.

No kidding? What did the kid die from, a bacterial thing?

Here I am thinking aquatics was a safe alternative to some of my other "hobbies" in years gone past.

The large unknown fish are most likely Tinfoil barbs. To move large fish bag them in koi bags (go to a lfs that sells koi and ask for a few) and then put the bags in large polystyrene boxes.

Well, thanks for the replies. The move will happen today, so wish me the best of luck!

No one sells koi around here, but I got some smaller 5g buckets which I will "scoop" the fish out with on their way to the larger 25g buckets. I will drill two holes in the top of each bucket, and have one air pump running on each one. I put the airline tubing down the first hole, and the second acts as a vent.

we had same problem when we got our tank all i can say is good luck catching them & watch for the plec jumping tank cos ours did :S  althou he was ok made up flap round abit lol. imagine me & 2 t/age girls doing the screaming thing while hubby was trying to catch it  was really funny after

I have always used styrophome coolers to move my fish in - I moved both my Oscar and Dempsey that way when they were full grown. Had no problems at all. Now catching them was a different story.. lol]

and yes, I agree - those two silver fish sound like tin foil barbs
