yup you heat the room or the sump from which your trickle comes from, mind you these beanie boxes have soared in price b/c people have cottoned on that they are being used for the aquatic hobby and the price for one is a stupid amount.

What are the beanie boxes normally used for?

I can keep bettas in sets of drawers, if you set them side by side (you can't stack them, the weight is way more than they were designed for) you can keep loads and loads. A bit of imagination and you could rig up a sump filter for a large number and heat that.

You could stand them on reptile heat mats Modaz sells them. Ibble & Netty use them succesfully.

when i jar out my babies, glass jars recycleed, old spaggettie, applesauce you get the idea about the same size as a benie box i guess, i have the babies in a small side room as ither have a small space heater in it or in the summer heat just no ac. for the most part reptile mats do work great, but if you get hundreeds of fry it would be too expensive to buy mats for all of them. heating the room is more eficent, mats are good for singel or very small amts of fish jars.

I used to collect beanies-never would have thought of using the boxes for fish!

I think the cheapest way to heat / filter your fry is like i have.

I found a 4ft by 3ft tray which would hold water, filled it half full of water, dropped a heater in it.

thn sat my containers wth the fry in, into the tray. eventually the heated water warms up the water in your fry's containers.

The containers i have are plastic, so what iv thought about doing is putting lots of holes in the side ( not big enought for the fry to get trought) and then do as i have with the heater and drop a filter into the tray.

Iv got 25 in the tray, then iv made my own wooden frame, 4ft by 3ft, lined it with a large plastic sheet, and it does the exact same job.

1 heater, 21 fish...
