I picked number 2.

I never even knew such a thing as a forum existed before I found TFF. :D

You should have added a "google search" option. It would have been the most popular result. :D

I googled search for something fish related and thankfully stumbled upon this website.

That would be incorporated in options 1, 2 or 3 then ;) there are still many people who use other web search engines. I wasn't really interested in what web search engine anyone used to get here :)

#3.
I am a big forumer, I love forums.
I got my first fish tank, then a few months later I had the brilliant Idea to look and see Fish related forums.
TFF is by far the best I have yet seen.

I picked number 1, but really it was a combo of number 1 and number 3.

I had some fish that were sick. I originally searched the symptoms and found another forum and they were really quite rude to me. So I searched for a fish forum and voila, this was the first one that popped up.

I joined and haven't looked back. It was the best thing to happen to my fish, that's for sure. I wonder though if I would have nearly as many tanks as I do if I hadn't have found it?

NO. 2 for me, I was randomly browsing for fish info when I stumbled in... I have probably learned more from the experience of others in this forum than everything else I have read put together

Glad to know I am not the only one :D

I think one of the reasons TFF comes up on searches so often is because it is so big with so many different posts about so many different kinds of fish.

Eh, I've seen bigger.
I've seen a forum where on average, they get about 9,000 new members a month.
TFF is like a bycical and they're a semi truck.

It's quality - not quantity, that counts ;)

I would actually dread to belong to a forum where the turnover is so incredibly high, that any new post gets shoved to the second page within minutes.

Is it a fish forum as well? I have yet to find one that is as informative, active and friendly as TFF.
