I was just wondering if there is a simple way to help really bring out the orange color in mollies.

I use spectrum pellet but there is also the flake and this food is awesome for bringing out the color and nutritious.

Food, light, and a stress-free environment are, IMO, the most important factors. :)

There is specially formulated fish food that is designed to bring out the colors of your fish. I would try feeding that food to your fish often and probably in a couple of weeks you will notice a difference.

That is along with keeping a stress free environment, no sickness and good adequate light for 8-12 hours a day.

i use a flake that is forulated to enhance the colours. it seems to work.

new life spectrum flake food do the best.it does best on all colors.i use it on my black mollies and now they are a very deep black like thisblackthey also look very smooth.

Well I am not really sure. They came with my starter kit for my aquarium. What type of tubes do you suggest for them?

Live food can help a lot !!! Try feeding bloodworms, daphnia, brine shrimp etc.

On the question of lights I have found that plant lights side by side with a regular daylight tube bring out the best. Ofcourse depending on the color of your fish you might want to experiment with warm or cool daylight.

Ok, I bought my mollies some bloodworms today and they gobbled them up. Do I use these as a treat or use them with my flake food at every meal? Also, if the food does help, after how long will I notice a difference (just as a guide so that i know if it helps them or not)?

I would suggest you feed them live/frozen foods atleast once a week (as a treat). They also need veggies (algae, peas, cucumber etc.)

I try and give them some variety by changing from flakes, pellets, veggies, frozen food & live food :)

Thanks for the guideline! Ok, so now for the veggies.... do you have to cut them up really finely or boil them to make them softer?

I cook mine in the microwave, steaming them basically, covered with plastic food wrap in a container with a little bit of water.
THis method is recommended to people cause the vitamins stay in best, a lot of water makes all the vitamins get thown out with the water, I'm assuming it's the same with fish.
Cooking them makes the vege soft so they can eat them, plus they will sink that way, if you've got plecos (I do)they love it. But all my other fish have their nibbles as well. If you've got peas, cook them then squeese out the inside and crush it up with a fork, throwing out the skin.

Apparently you can wilt lettuce. I use brocoli, peas and silverbeet for my fish.
They may not eat very much (other fish) whereas my plecos will devour a big handfull of vege overnight. Plus ALL my plants :/
If they don't get eaten within a day, take them out because the vege goes slimy and rotten and polutes your water.
My fish prefer the brocoli over everything else I think :D
