I have two golden apple snails in my planted tank. When they are not eating, they are breeding. Apple snails lay their eggs outside the water. In my tank, they seem to prefer to lay the egg clutches on the inside top of the hob filter. If you don't want the snails, just remove the egg clutch. The young grow fairly quickly and can benefit from the addition of some calcium in the tank to help with shell growth. Normally in a planted tank they take away from the look of the tank, but I have kept mine to allow the teanagers to learn something other than what they get from the bloody rap music. Soon I will have the check the LFS to see if they need any.
