How Big Are Guppy Babies?

guppy fry are master if disguise! Seriously, I wouldn't have known my females had dropped, if i didn't look close enough into the Hospital tank

They are practically see-through, think mine were about half a cm, possibly smaller for some of them.

Yeah but saying that...my fry born before i got the breeding tank all just dissapeared, one day (they lasted for 2 days) they were there...the next POOF!

never to be seen again?

Chances are, something munched on them. My bettas and apistos have a feeding frenzy every 30 odd days or so

omg my angel fish are EVIL!!! they nipped my poor guppy's tail tto bits...poor robing R.I.P i only just got the red male guppy yesterday and now those darn angel fiah have torn his tail to tatters and he's dead!!!!!!!!!!

Angel fish are not evil, they are ambush predators. They will sit perfectly still looking like a simple plant leaf from head on until a suitably small fish swims in front of them. Then they will make a quick short movement and take a huge bite of their prey. The end result can devastate a population of small fish but there is no meanness or evil involved. They are simply efficient predators among a group of prey.

i know i know...i just call em evil coz i'd had the fish for less than a day, is there a list of fish they will attack?

No list, just common sense;

* Don't have fish that are small enough to fit in an adults mouth
* Stay away from long finned fish
* Don't put them in with other aggressive type fish

I maybe corrected on that, though

i think i should get rid of my angel fish then...coz all of my fish are small enough to get eaten by them when the angel fish grow...crap, but i like them they are two small black and white angel fish called zack and domino...what can i do?

You can keep an eye on those angels. There is no need to remove them until they grow big enough to hunt the other fish in the tank. I actually keep a mostly mixed group of fish in a very large tank and have 4 nice big angels in there for their appearance. Mine are about 4 inches tall right now so they are still growing youths. The other fish in the tank are at least the size of black neons and have lived with adult angels before. An adult black neon size or larger seems to be about minimum when it comes to living with full grown scalares. Things like rasboras are definitely too large to be eaten by an angel.

well...my angel fish have been taken back to the store... poor zack and domino...

However on a brighter note MY BABY GUPPIES ARE STARTING TO GET MARKINGS!!! i've noticed a blueish tint near the gills! and boy have they grown fast!!!

New guppies that are well cared for will grow like weeds. You can expect to see some nice colors starting to show at about a month and near adult coloring around a month to 6 weeks later if everything is going well. True adult coloring is not going to be present for at least 4 or more months.

I switched round the flakes I was using to a more nutritional type, within 3 days, there was a major difference in my guppy fry and for the better.

Think it's exciting with the first fry x
