Just wondering if normal household salt is safe for mollys??

I heard that they loved it but i didnt know if you had to buy a certain type??
or how much to add to a 5gal?

the vast majority of people will say NO, absolutely not

I did hear one person on here a while back giving quite convincing reasons as to why this was just a myth

but to be on the safe side I'd recommend you just get aquarium salt :dunno:

From what I've read, tablesalt has an anti-clumping agent added to it. Different makers use different agents. One of them is toxic to fish. So you can tell by looking at the ingredients if it's safe or not, but I forget what to look for and I don't know now where I read this, unfortunately. :/

If it's just your average aquarium salt, I believe it's just NaCl. If it's salt meant for a marine tank, it probably has all sorts of trace elements in it that you may or may not want in your tank.
