Ocean salt to raise water hardness?

Just a heads up - Prime doesn't fix nitrate, it temporarily binds it for around 24 to 36 hours. It does the same for ammonia and nitrite, it temporarily binds them. Assuming the source water nitrate is lower than tank nitrate, the way to lower nitrate is by doing water changes. Or have live plants in the tank as plants take up ammonia as fertiliser so there's less for the bacteria to turn into nitrate.

wow i didnt know that. the bottle is very misleading since it says it neutralizes it. i do water changes a lot though. yesterday i did an 80%. i do a minimum of one water change a week. (which, to me is a lot, but im new so that may be very little idk) also why cant my tank grow algae??? poor vacuum has to rely on discs and it just saddens me.

Quotes about Prime from Seachem's website:

It contains a binder which renders ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate non-toxic,
The website doesn't use the word 'neutralises'.

Q: How long does Prime® stay bound to the ammonia, nitrite, and nitrates?
A: Prime® will bind up those compounds for up to 48 hours. If they are still present after that time frame, they are released back into the water, unless Prime® is re-dosed accordingly.

The website has more info than the bottle, especially the Q & As.
