Houdini Fish?

a while back i got 6 hatchet fish(3 silver, 3 rainbow)between 1 and 1.5 inches long. one hopped out of the tank and died one night and the others of the course of about 2 weeks the rest of them just dissapeared. i look under the plastic rocks cheaked the filter and all my other fish were way too small to eat them. it has been bothering me for quite some time any ideas would be appreshated.

Happened to me with Neons. My problem though, was that my tank wasn't cycled, so they ended up dying, and other fish picked on them over night, finishing them off. Or atleast thats what I think

hahaha definately aliens.

hatchets are fantastic little jumpers, fish can get out of the tiniest holes. a very secure lid with no large holes (even those ones where the wires go out out the back) is a must for hatchets. if you have any furries such as kitties or a dog, any fish that decided to make the leap for freedom could easily get snuffled that way. or flip flopped under some furniture.
