Hi All,
I have a bit of a situation. I have an extension on my house (like a large back room) that I have my fish tanks in - currently 2 x 12 gallon [60cmx30cmx25cm] and a single 9 gallon [45cmx30cmx25cm]. This past week has been rediculous and its been like 42 degrees celcius 3 days in a row!! I come home from work to find the in tank temperature at 32! I put in ice packs in sealed baggies to slowly bring the temp back down.. in around 2 hours its back to something like 28 which is what the tanks usually hover around at during summer... My question is would short periods ie. say 6 hours of slowly increase tank temps to 32 degrees harm fish? At the moment I keep glowlites, neons, and chinese algae eaters (and a heap of snails haha). None of the fish are showing signs of harm but id like to know if its bad or not. The tanks are semi to heavily planted tanks with bogwood and rocks, plenty or aeration, medium to high level of lighting and external hang on filters. I will eventually get air conditioning in that room but not this summer.. (as the hottest should already be over!)
