Hospital Tank

well ive just bought a hospital tank. with filter and heater. what i was thinking about doing was when there is a sick fish i was going to take 1 of the polyester media out of the main tanks filter then just replace that. and put that in the hospital tank filter. is this the best way of doing it?

I keep a spare piece of filter media in my main tank so should I ever need to set up the hospital tank I just take out the filtered media and shove it in the hospital tank. I'm sure what you are proposing should be okay but then what will you do with the hospital filter media once you've finished with it?

The amount of filtered media you need shouldn't be too big for a hospital tank, why not put a spare piece in your tank and leave your main filter media alone?
