Woah ok. I went camping for a couple of days and came home to this,

Poor flying foxes. I have no what happened. They were perfectly fine when I left but now... I checked the water stats. All is normal. 0 ammonia and 0 nitrite, etc. I checked the other fish and they all seem fine. Does anyone know what could have happened?

What's the size of the tank? how long have you had them? roomates?
A little more info might help. The way the one is in the rock is suspicious.

What do you feed them aswell? There doesnt seem like there is an awful lot of food in their.

Sorry for your loss though! :(

What?! I think a pile of bloodworms on a dead fish would be odd?
There's never any food in my pictures either -_-

Those aren't bloodworms.. :/ No idea what they are.

The tank is a 150 gallon, tankmates are 10 zebra danios, that's it. And yes they were fed when I left, I was only gone two days.

I wasnt refferring too bloodworm and flake! I meant algae. There dosnt apear to me like there was much algae in the tank, if there wasnt anything wrong with the water, why would two fish, unique to each other, (algae eaters) pass away when the others survived?

Why are my questions any less important or critical to solving the problem than yours wuv? Crikey...

ANYWAYs, not to get a thread off track, is there any sign of white-spot or bacterial infection on your danios?

Mr.miagi an algae eater woudn't die in two days of not being fed. I only feed my common pleco once every other day but he used to be fed once every two days. So I doubt an algae eater would have died with not being fed for 2 days. Maybe the danios became vicous and stressed them out by chasing them around and they died. But it looks like in the first pic that his eyes are cloudy maybe that had something to do with it. :dunno:

Mabye he NEVER feed any algae wafers, assuming that they would 'live of the land'

Why do you only have 10 zebra danios in a 150 gallon ? Are you busy cycling your tank ?
How long have you had the FF's in there ?
If they were new additions to the tank and your tank is going through a cycle (or just newly cycled), that would be your reason. Actually looking at your squeeky clean gravel with absolutely no "waste" further down (or anywhere for that matter) or even a speck of algae, my guess is that it's a brand new tank.
If the above is true, I would guess they came from different water conditions, didn't like the "new" tank and thus died :/

Just on a side note, are you sure it's a 150 gallon ? Looking at the angles in the first pic and the space between the front pane of glass and the well, it "seems" like a much smaller tank. Unless my eyes and are deceiving me and my perspective is all wrong.

Yeah it certainly doesn't look like a 150gal to me either, i'd say theres about 1ft width to that tank, more like 150litres than gallons.
Its pointless what the fish looks like now as the growth on it is due to rotting more than anything else, it certainly wouldn't have died looking like that.
How long have you have the tank and the flying fox?

It's obviously cycled if ammonia and everything is normal. and for the side, it's more length than width and depth. i've had the tank for just under a year. the FF have been in there for seven months or so, same with the danios, they all went in at the same time, all young. and i have danios in it because i think they're pretty.

I also agree that the size seems a little off :/ Are you sure it's not 150 litres? That would put you at about 40 gallons, which just seems more realistic. From the pictures, it looks as though the width is 12" at the most 18".

For instance, if the tank width and height are both 12", the tank length would need to be approximately 21 feet to equal 150 gallons. Say both your height and width are 18", the tank still be about 9 feet in length. I am using US gallons in these examples.

As for the fish, hard to say what may have happened as by the time you got home, decomposition had taken place. It will be hard to determine what the actual syptoms were and not what happened post mortem.

It may help to post your actual water parameters to rule out water conditions as a first step. Then go from there.

I can see some red patches on the fish, could of been septicemia.

I'm sorry but I'm a bit confused. You have a 150 gallon already and getting another 150 gallon ?

Going by this post of yours a few days ago....

My uncle is going to give me a 150 gallon brackish tank for Thanksgiving. I think Green Spotted Puffer's are absolutely adorable and I know a very good breeder an hour away from where I live. I was wondering if a 150 gallon was big enough for one? It's already been cycled, has sand, pump, live plants, etc. If it is big enough, what kind of tank mates could it have, if any?

It's a hex tank. The one side that is in the picture is only about 9.5 inches. Plus, I do not see why size is such a big deal.

As for the danios, no there isn't. They're all perky and happy as usual, eating normally, etc etc.

For your question bloozoo2, this tank that the danios are in now isn't entirely my tank, I share it with my father, he just hasn't put any fish in it yet. I wanted a tank that was entirely my own, so my uncle is going to give me one. I don't see how that's confusing. :/
