Holiday pics from South Africa

Ok,

here are the umfolozi game reserve pics, later than promised....

Off on our 3 hour walk at 7am......some weaver bird nests along the way....

At one point our ranger was tracking lions in a dried up river bed!!! Apparantly they were very fresh prints of a male
Don't worry, he had a big gun!
He did say that if we were tracking them and they'd just been here,
then they were probably already watching us!!
How reasuring!!

For all the arachnophobes (sure that's not how you spell it!) this was a beautiful large spider we almost walked into about the length of your hand!

Luckily we didn't almost walk into this beast or we would've been in trouble!!

he decided to ignore us and walk across the track instead!!

then the happy couple brought out the youngster when they decided we were no threat....

Water hole where we waited forever for no animals to show up!! To be fair this reserve is over 100,000 sq km so it is quite lucky to see some of the rarer animals like wild dogs and black rhino that we saw.....to elusive to get pics though!!
