They have special slides in them that need to be replaced every 30 days otherwise the PH and ammonia detector doesnt work. 3 slides is £18. And yea I know you have to hook it upto your computer. However they store information for upto 36 days, you simply plug it in when your ready and upload the info. Or alternatively you have it constantly plugged into a pc. You can also set them up so they text/email you if parameters change. Just looked like a nice bit of kit. Still might get one lol
Check this out Slim. Low price and ends soon. Might need a new electrode if the one that comes with it is quite old. £10 for one from china or £50 for the JBL one.

Is the tank your using a AquaNano 30 or 40? I've been looking at one of them but I'm not sure which one it is my LFS has in stock as it says 30X30X30 but is advertised as 50 litres so I'm confused as to which one it s

pretty sure thats 40, i got a aqua nano 40 and it says 55L and 51L lol im assuming 51L is the volume for the fish

Yeah, I'm just unsure as its 30X30X30 instead of 40X40X40 but the store might have measured wrong or something.

The Aquanano 40 (40x40x40) is 55L I think... 5L in the back sump area, 50 in the main. Or it might be 51/4, not sure. The Aquanano 30 which I have is 25L I think... that's definitely 30x30x30.

I have the 30 which gives my fish 22litres swimming space.

The 50 (which I can't afford) is 55.

I now have an upgrade to an arcadia which is 35 litres.

The aquananos have such a lovely look to them though I'm reluctant to change at the mo.

Ideally I would have them both setup - a) dont have the room. b) hubby would NOT be impressed lol!

Sounds like we need to get married Shelster! My Mrs won't let me set up the Aquanano 30 :D I bought it off Gumtree for £25, bargain! But now I can't do anything with it....

Ha ha, yes indeed! We wouldn't have any money left over for all the fish tanks we would own though.

Our whole weekends would be taken up with tank maintenance and we wouldn't have any 'us' time (actually the tank maintenance would be our 'us' time)

I have often wondered what I would get away with tank wise if I had married a tropical fish enthusiast :D

Btw my aquanano 30 also cost me £25 from a member on here, absolute bargain!

Haha you would probably get a bit sick of them. Isn't some of the excitement of fish keeping having to wait. It lets you look forward to something. Otherwise you would just take it all for granted then one day you would be broke. :O
:)
Just my over thinking

And also thats a bargain. The one advertised at my LFS was $170 which I think converts to around 110 Euro.

So I've installed the Ph controller, very pleased with it. Quite easy to set up and calibrate and I think I'm using less Co2 than before!

My KH is 10 so my Ph needs to be 7 to reach 30ppm which I've set accordingly on the controller.

Before the controller, I used to have the Co2 on for 9 hours a day (lights on for 10). I honestly think now that even with the controller running 24/7 the Co2 is on for less than what it was before.

The hysteresis on this thing is +/- 0.1 so the lowest the Ph gets to is 6.90, at which point the Co2 shuts off and Ph is allowed back up to 7.10, then switches back on the Co2 and lowers Ph to 6.90 again, etc etc. I still need to confirm this but to get the Ph down to 6.9 (from 7.1) takes maybe half an hour or less. For the Ph to go back up to 7.1 takes maybe 2 hours.

By those estimations and if I've calculated this right, Co2 is only on for 5 hours a day, even if I leave it on over night!

Yep, green all day baby! The fish look noticably happier. They used to swim in tight formation most of the time, but now they all branch off and do their own thing. I guess they're just more comfortable.
