Came home from work tonight and noticed me glowlight tetras gasping. The other fish in the tank seemed OK.

Checked Ammonia = 0ppm
Checked Nitrite = 5.0ppm
Checked ph = 7.6

I've changed 1/3 of the water and the Nitrite is down to 0.5ppm and the ph down to 7.2.

I've let the tank settle for a couple of hours and now going to change 1/3 of the water again.

I cleaned my internal filter at the weekend but only rinsed it in the water I'd just taken out of the tank.

I also put a treatment in for Fungus / Finrot at the weekend and noticed that when I add this the glass gets a grey slimy algae build up within 48hrs.

Any ideas, the fact that my ammonia is 0ppm indicates that I',ve not killed my bacteria (doesn't it?).

Your whole biological system has failed for some reason. Keep doing water changes and DONT feed the fish for a few days as this would add to your problem. Keep doing water changes. Dont put in anymore medication, If you had finrot this is caused by bad water quality.
All you can do is do large water changes daily and make sure you use a water dechlorinator aswell. Test the water daily too and hopefully your biological system will kick back in shortly. As i said earlier cut back big time on the feeding as this will only increase pollutants. Good luck

That is great advice, I wouldnt change it twice in one day that is a lot of unwanted stress also. I would go around 25 percent daily until you get your tank back in line again.
