I have albino high fin C. paleatus/peppers. It is said that albinos, regardless of fin variety or for that matter any genetic classification including human, have weak eye sight and are sensitive to the light. I do not know if it is scientifically true. But many recommend that albino fish be given lots of cover from direct light. I would think that lacking pigmentation they woud also have sensitive skin in light--sunburn.
But mine are healthy and do fine.
On the other hand the fins can be delicate. They can rip, shred, and get fungus easily. Think of the Veil Tail Bettas. But the Betta lives a solitary life and the Corys are always jumbling together. The long thin bones can break. That does not seem to bother the fish. It is aesthetic. I imagine that it also depends on how long the fins get.
Also you will find that there are many, many hobbyists that are vehemently opposed to the practice of breeding and furthering long finned fish. I have long finned peppers, long finned bronze, long finned pandas and a few varieties of long finned Plecs. I have had many battles over it. Mostly I don't mention them in most forums or ask if anyone likes them or post pictures of them. It will inevitably get negative comments.
But my long finned bronze are some of my favorite Corys. They are a personable and funny little fish. I hope you enjoy them. There are a few of us that keep these pets and enjoy them.
Congrats on the find!
