Hide and seek ×100?

So today, I got up like normal and went down to feed the fish... Except, the fish weren't there... I was very perplexed and was looking on all sides of the tank and saw nothing... I'm thinking they are still alive and possibly the two gudgeons are breeding? But I dont know how long that takes... I'm giving them an hour to come out before I go in and pick up a few rocks to see if they are ok. What are your thoughts?

Not sure how your filter works but the other day the end cage part of my external filter came off and unfortunately sucked one of my gourami's up into the pipework. .
Hopefully yours are just hiding.

Thanks... My filter is an aquaclear 30 and has a sponge covering the intake, sothe fish getting sucked in is impossible.
I just decided after waiting all morning to search in all the caves and small places... No sign of them... Its completely bizzare... My whole family is stunned... I cant find one trace of them and I even checked everywhere around the tank as well

I had a mia gourami the other day and it had somehow lodged itself into an impossible small gap.
I also has a missing neon which I looked for for hours, eventually emptying the entire tank of all decor and it just appeared!

My Corys will occasionally hide in the hull of a sunken ship, I usually have to wait and recount at a later time when they come out.

Yah... But usually at 9-10AM they are out to eat cause that when their fed... Hopefully I didn't injure them by moving the decor... And hopefully they come out... I'm just hoping they didnt die because on Wednesday I did a water change of a bit over 25%... I would expect them to be moving out of their spots while moving the decor around...

Any open areas where they could have jumped out? Although that's unlikely with two fish missing.

There is one cutout where the filter goes... Its kinda small and I did check all around the area of the tank to make sure they didnt jump out...

Then they gotta be in there (or the filter) somewhere.

Fish are good at making us believe that they must have popped into a parallel dimension though.

For future piece of mind get a little bit of clear perspex and cut a bit to place over the filter cut out.

I lost a pair some years ago in a 6 gallon quarantine tank. Then I spotted a tail. There was the tiniest terracotta plant pot on its side in there about 1.5 inches long x 1 inch across the top. They were both in there. The male was too long and his tail was sticking out of the hole in the bottom of the pot.

Did you check every tiny crevice in the tank? Crevices so small that you didn't think they'd fit?

I picked up all the rocks to check... Although there are holes in the rock I didnt check

Do a test for ammonia. If they died it is likely you will get a high ammonia reading

Its night now and still no sign... Tomorrow I will do an ammonia test to see if they are dead ... I dont think they are though for some reason... Tomorrow I will also take out every rock and individually look at all the gaps... If I see nothing I will call area 51 and ask them about mysteeious fish disappearances in my area

Be careful removing the rocks, you don't want to disturb them if they have laid eggs
