Hide and seek ×100?

They might be a bit shocky if they were involved in the other's one's demise....or they picked up battle wounds from that episode too that have taken longer to expire from, or they are skulking and feeling a bit battered and want to stay away from you.

If you move stuff about too much you'll just make them more nervy and they will hide from you all the more. I would be inclined to leave the aquarium lights off for a day or two and let them calm down naturally without anything but natural light.
Hmmm... Im getting conflicting answers... Idk... I want that closure though... I want to see them and know that they are ok

If you know they are Ok leave them alone, they will be fine and they will come out when they are ready.

Did you do an Ammonia test on the tank? It should be zero, if not it may indicate one of the fish has died.

Maybe I should just leave it be... But I am scared that they may be stuck or what if I closed their opening up while moving the rocks?... So many things are going through my mind

You can "want" all you want sunshine, let nature take its course. If they are OK they will emerge when they are ready to emerge. If they are hurt they will want rest and peace to heal and if they have expired you will see a big nasty leap in the water chemistry.

But what if their not dead... What if they do need help... It makes me cringe at the thought of them being stuck and I never did a thing

Just as a fish keeping thing, I do a head a count every day. If I don't see someone for twenty-four hours, I go looking. Just me I suppose.
I like that... That is a very good plan

Maybe I should just give it one more day... If nothing then I start searching

My aunt kept aquariums when she was a young teen. She said that she once buried a catfish (idk what kind) under the sand and didn’t realize until 3 days later snd he was just fine. she was much more careful in the future:blink:

This is why I use my lighting routine....

First thing in the morning and the lounge is pitch black, on goes the very dull blue light....the "wakey wakey" light. I go off and get myself organised for the day ahead, return to the lounge and the very dull pink light goes on....the "form an orderly queue under feeding hatch" light. At this point I check who is there and continue to check after dropping the food in.....lastly once I have spotted everyone (including Bristles the tail waving "I'm here" BN in his tree stump) I put the cloudy day white lighting on. Whilst everyone is stuffing faces, I have a cursory looksy as to who is missing.....99.9999% of the time any late arrivals for breakfast have overslept, usually the Cories after a night of lovey dovey-ness.

Do a water test last thing at night and first thing in the morning......if they are seriously stressed or expired, the test results will soon tell you.

Leave the lights off for a day or two, just as you do when introducing new fish to allow them to calm down and just pull themselves together.

Water testing will throw up the red flags quickly and without the need to rummage around hunting them and potentially making matter worse.

Ok. I will do that. Although usually by the time I'm down stairs the lights are on... I will just turn them off manually for these two days... Thank you for your help

I turned off the lights this morning. I don't see them anywhere still but I will give them this day and maybe tomorrow and then I'm going in to find em... I tested for ammonia and it does look to be 0 but I could be wrong 😕
