Hi

A little unfair on a newbie Snake007. They've obviously been given bad advice - hardly worth such a vicious attack.

Mike. I know very little about any of the fish you have but I consider them all to be fish for the experienced.

Forget what the man from the shop told you and don't try to run before you can crawl. See if you can swap the fish for something easier to keep to start with. You can always build yourself back up at a later date when you have more experience. I'd suggest going with hardy fish like tetra's, guppies, platies or mollies to start with but it is entirely up to you. I do know though that fighting fish mustn't be kept together. The clue is in their name

Nooo get rid of most and keep the male betta then work around him - You could get 8 pgymy corydoras and 6 Harlequins?

I understand that 'Akasha' but how can a lfs suggest such a stocking?

can someone just tell me what to what to get rid of without isulting me due to my lack of fish knoweldge , came on here for help !

Im sorry if I can seem abit harsh sometime but most of the time its the only way I can get through to someone about their fish.
Most people wont listen, however mike if you follow our advice here, you will have a happy thriving tank!

because as you said ... they like to make a profit and it's easy to do with someone that's new to the hobby. And please don't put my name in inverted comma's it comes across as a little rude.

Mike, my suggestion still stands. The fish you have are all fish for the experienced. See if you can swap them for something a little more forgiving of your inexperience.

I'm sorry people have been rude. I'm trying to help though

Was not meant to come across rude I was just mentioning your name so it doesn't get confusing who Im talking to.

Like I said get rid of those fish keep the male betta and theres many different stockings you could have with him.

One thing i dont understand is why spend the money on something you have no idea at all about? thats a genuine question not a slur

I do however agree with snake on the sticking to be more constructive :good:

You have a 10g tank, correct? That is about 2ft long if I am not mistaken.

Your Silver back shark will get to be a foot long. Althought he will not grow that big in your tank. He will become stunted and his internal organs will continue growing, causing intrenal damage and death. Return to the fish store.

You cichlids sound to be aggressive mbuna and will generally get to be 4-7 inches long. They will each your male and female betta when they are bigger. They are also too big for your tank. They will become stunted, and their internal organs will continue growing causing internal damage and death.

Male and female bettas can not coexist in such a small tank. Some people have successfully kept males and female together in a ratio of 1 male to 20+ females, in a large HEAVILY planted tank. The male is chasing the female trying to kill her. You need to remove the female and return her, or remove the male and return him.

I dont know about crabs.

Basically as suggested, in your tank you are looking at 4-5 platys tops, and nothing more. Or other small fish such as neons. Do not go for danios or rasboras, as these are extremely fast and do best in 3-4ft tanks.

Bottom line, your LFS stiffed you. They wanted you to buy fish and didn't care that you do have the capability for the fish you bought. I have African Cichlids. They require a large tank and do best in groups of 10+. They are extremely aggressive, and will kill fish smaller than they are. They also require different tank parameters than the other fish you had them with.

Exactly what I said, or was trying to say.

can someone just tell me what to what to get rid of without isulting me due to my lack of fish knoweldge , came on here for help !

Insults were not intended, but when peeps see incompatible fish in a small tank it makes them see red.We all learn the hard way, some more than others, unfortunately you happen to trust and listen to an lfs,i'm surprised your fish survived this far...

The best advise given is to return the fish has suggested and perhaps read up on what fish are compatible for a 10 gal tank and whats available at your lfs.You can put a few smaller micro fish like ember tetras, pygmy cories, galaxy rasboras, enders etc etc,all stay small. Or else have a tank for a single betta and maybe shrimps & snails etc...

The choice is endless if well thought out,you may not put tons of fish in there, but may get something where you will have a peaceful tank :)

I dont know a lot about crabs, but be careful what fish you put with them, the fish may end up has snacks...

Good luck. :good:
