Hiya,

New to tropical fish, have big fish tank at parents home with koi's so not too new to the world of fish.

Very determined to do many DIY stuff so will be having a good browse at that section. If you have any "must do's"/links for DIY let me know! I've got most essential things sorted though (filter media, bacteria growing materials, carbon filter for smells [arrived today]).

What im looking for is probably a background, and possibly some decorative things.

So the kit:
~ high rated pump think its 1200l/h
~ 100w thermometer
~ custom external filter, used a klip and lock box for container then filter with media etc
~ hatchery thing for the silver mollies atm.
~ 48cm LED strip, one in white one in blue.

fishes:
~ silver mollies (a few less now as my tiger barbs had some for dinner, oops..)
~ Tiger barbs
~ Zebra snails
~ A very funkey cat fish with long whiskers (only bought today and forgot the name!)

Couple of pics, doesn't do it justice unfortunately.. Looks much nicer especially the lid!

Is that some sort of pictus catfish? If it is, beware, they will most likely gulp those fish

EDIT: Oh and welcome! Sorry to be so negative right from the start :D

Oh? Yes it is. I bought it at the same time as the tiger barbs, the aquarium people said it should be fine..? I'll keep an eye on them :) Thanks!

Im also looking for some shrimps, will they get eaten by my fishes?

Welcome! That pictus cat will eat anything that will fit in it's mouth. If it doesn't fit, it still might try! Beautiful fish, but not good with small fish.

Thanks for the reply everyone :) I seem to like to do all the dangerous things! I've recently bought a red fine shark too, I've read on the forums they don't get on too well with the pictus but we'll see, my pictus is much bigger than the shark and they both seem to be coping very well with each other! (they sleep pretty much next to each other).

If anyone is selling any snails and/or shrimps let me know :)

Are you in the States or the UK? I have shrimp and snail you could have for the price of shipping. I've never shipped anything before, but I have recieved a few shipments. If you are in the states, it shouldn't be a problem, but they probably won't make it over seas.

I'm new to this forum too :)

Planning on upgrading my 60L tropical tank so saving up for that now. You have a very nice tank :)

I have quite a few little snails that must have travelled in my live plants, you are welcome to have some if you want? Never posted live fish or snails before, but should be ok in a sealed bag inside a box??

Laura x

Edited to add, I am in the UK )

I am from the UK. (Grr at riots in london).

Thanks for the offer, but I've found some awesome snails online so I may go for them in the v near future. I'll be looking for an upgrade too when I get nearer the limit of fishes my current tank can handle hehe..
