Hi Guys

Marine is easy!..............Regular water changes and maintenance is the key!

As for expense. It depends on what system you go for and how much you want to spend plus there are plenty of bargains out there. Especially 2nd hand stuff!

Don't be afraid. Most the people on here jumped straight in the deep end [myself included] with little or no knowledge and our tanks are still going strong.

There's plenty of help and guidance on here! :good:

Hi
Its called 'live' because of the things that are living on it. The actual rock isnt alive! :D
The live rock is the main filtration method for the tank and the powerheads create flow for the water to move over the live rock where all the good stuff lives :D
A refractometer is a 'device' that reads the salt levels (salinity) of the tank water as this needs to be kept stable.
RO water is reverse osmosis water, you can buy this direct from a lfs or buy a unit to make your own. Basically it removes any impurities from the water to make it safe for use in a tank. There are a lot of metals and ammonia etc in tap water that need to be striped out.

Hope that helps :D
