That is my thought as well. Remember that one died, it just ended up dead. I think the male the one on the right of this photo knocked it off. The right-hand fish keeps playing with the vent of the left-hand fish.

Thought I had better test my tank, since I have been saying what I think about nitrates etc. The nitrate reading is far right
The reading is
Gh, KH, pH, Nitrite, Nitrate.
